Change the default province/state on forms (blank or donor's location)

Our organisation is registered in one province of Canada, but the majority of our donors using Simplyk are in another province. Currently, the default province selected on the forms is the province of registration of the organisation. Could we be able to change the default province for our donation forms?

Validate State/Province and City

I recently had a person fill out a form indicating they lived in Calgary, Ontario. I'd like some sort of validation that prevents this from happening, or remove the default province from the form so that it's required to be selected.

Michel (Product @Zeffy) Hey, would you be able to review this ticket? Is this something that could be at least in the planning stage? It's been open for almost 3 full years and seems like it could be an easy fix. Could we please have this field just set to blank to require users to select their state/province instead of defaulting to the organization's state/province? Thank you!

Ryan thanks for the ping. We were precisely discussing that with our product team and I agree that it's high time we fix this issue once and for all.
The solution we're leaning toward to make sure we don't degrade conversion on the forms (any additional field to fill can result in some donors dropping off) would rather be a mix of address auto-complete + IP detection to make sure the state is always the right one.
More on this soon!

We have a raffle every year, and have finished one raffle so far. We sold over 16,000 tickets. I noticed early on that we had a surprising number of ticket purchasers from Delaware, but then realized the zip codes didn't match up. So, monthly, I would download the contact information, sort by state and then by zip code, look up each zip code labeled "Delaware," and update that contact's information. Imagine my horror when, on the day of the raffle drawing, I downloaded all the data so I could do a quick lookup of the raffle ticket number as it was drawn, and realized that changing to the accurate state had only changed the Contact information, but not the Payment information. And, it is the Payment information that downloads along with the name, ticket number, etc. So, I spent the last hour prior to our scheduled livestreamed raffle furiously looking up zip codes to find out what state that city was actually in. It was stressful! The same is going to happen with every raffle, but at least I won't be surprised next time.

Upvoting! It is pretty annoying that it auto-fills this with our state. Please let this be blank by default!

I agree! We are an international organization and it causes a lot of extra work to go back and fix it when people leave the state and country section defaulted to WA, USA. Please leave it blank and force the user to fill it out. Thank you Zeffy! We love you!

Upvoting this request, to prioritize. Totally agree with the concerns raised here. The Country and State fields should NOT have pre-populated choices as today. They should be empty, OR pre-programmable by the Form Admin, OR they should be pre-populated based on the user location (gleaned somehow - mandatory zip code? IP addr location? Yes, I realize VPN will throw that off). Providing a default based on the registered address of the organization/non-profit makes very little sense in today's connected world where supporters could be anywhere in the world.
Today, when taken together with the inability of those two dropdown boxes to be selectable/searchable by alphabet keystrokes also (for which I'll file a separate feature request), it makes for a very poor user experience. Has been called out by many of our users/testers.

Yes! This makes no sense for this field to be auto-populated. If anything, it should be calculated based on the entered zip code. This has caused significant issues with our database of addresses. We use Zeffy to register competitors and if they win, their State is announced. If that is incorrect, it reflects poorly on us even though it is a user entry error. There's no way to get around it either.

Same for US states!

Yes, please update to change the default state/province or update to be blank. Our event is not located where the our non-profit is located.
