Clearer list of active members - Membership

Currently, in a membership campaign, the total number of members is calculated by adding the total number of memberships sold plus the total number of renewals. However, people that have renewed their membership are not actually "new" members. The addition of renewed memberships in the total number of listed members makes ascertaining the actual amount of individual members difficult.

I'm finding it difficult to manage our members on Zeffy. I would like to easily: (1) see a list of everyone who has purchased a membership (2) sort that list by a variety of fields, including purchase date, expiration, purchase amount.

Although I have submitted payments using a member form, none of them appear when I filter the contact list for "Members".
It appears that the other contact types that are applied (such as "One Time" or "Returning") are replacing the "Member" type when they should not be mutually exclusive options. I.e., a contact can be both a Member and Returning, or they could be both a Prospect and Monthly Donor if they made a donation but are not also registered as a member.

Hi! You can now filter your members by active vs. expired status directly in Contacts > Members using the available filters. This new page allows you to create customized lists of members based on your criteria, such as membership type, status (active vs. expired), and plenty of other filters!

This still needs work, as when I apply the "Membership" filter type with status "is expired" to the Contacts list I get one member who changed membership type and not the individuals whose memberships actually expired without being replaced. I have to instead use a composite filter setting the Fundraising Campaign to our Membership fundraiser and the Last Transaction Date to "is before" the first day of the grace period (we have set up to allow carry-over for new members within 90 days of the end of the membership period).
Additionally, when I view Members from the Fundraising Campaign itself, I see double entries (and in one case, a brand new member ID number the second time) for renewed Members. I presume that once we reach our third year I'd see three entries...which is confusing and unacceptable.

If the member does not renew their membership, it would be nice to have that contact type cleared from their contact profile, or to have the ability to change it.

I need to be able to sort the contact list to find only current members. Currently a contact remains a "member" even if they do not renew there membership.
