Contact Types - Inactive vs Active Members

I'd like to see all member records (current or expired), no matter what form they used. We would like to use different forms for different events, where a registration would result in membership. This should be a separate category like "Contacts", under which I can see all member records and their status.

Agreed. It would be helpful for us to be able to use the filter function to filter out CURRENT members, vs anyone who has paid a membership at any point. I've found when I use the filter function to search under our membership campaign, and input the date range (within the past calendar year) it will pull in anyone who has made a payment through any campaign within that timeframe, but see that they have an expired membership if I dig down further and look at the individuals.

It is almost impossible to get a list of current members, which seems like it should be easy. We should easily be able to get a report of current members (who have signed up for membership ON ANY FORM in the last 12 months), expiring members (members who's membership is due to expire in the next moth), and expired members.

Hi Rowan, thanks for getting back to me. This is okay as a workaround, but I do think it would be more straightforward to really treat members separately. Obviously they are a different record type and they have VERY different attributes and actions than an event or a lottery. When you have a member concept, it's very common to ask the questions: "how many members do we have?" "how many memberships are expiring this month?". With Zeffy I can do this if all the members come in on a single form, but it's also common to have members coming in over multiple forms and channels. For example we might have a year-end member drive.

Hi Vincent! Thanks for sharing this feedback! We have a 'Tag' feature that allows you to label your contacts, so when someone purchases a membership, you can manually tag them as a Member and then filter by this Tag in the Contacts section. I know this may not be the easiest solution, but do you think it could work for now? Thanks again!
