I want to be able to add custom information to my contact's page and be able to filter by it. Typically information that I would add for multiple of my contacts.
I would like to be able to add custom information to my contacts page and filter it. This is usually information that I would add for several of my contacts.

Great news — this is now live! 🎉 You can now create custom contact fields with single-select, multi-select, and dropdown options to organize your contacts your way. Custom field values are displayed directly in the contact panel, and responses to form questions automatically sync with your contact properties — so your CRM stays up to date without any extra work.

Michel (Product @Zeffy) Unless I am missing it, seems from the contacts page the only way to add a custom property is to go into a contact, edit the contact, choose manage custom properties, and then add a new attribute from there. Should be a way from the main contacts page to set up a new custom property, as it is not clear you would need to do this the way it currently is and seems like way too many steps.

Salvatore Thanks for the feedback — you're right that it's not very intuitive right now.
The main entry point we had in mind for collecting custom contact properties was through campaign forms (donation forms, ticketing, etc.) — where you can add custom questions that automatically map to contact fields. That's where most orgs set up their custom properties today.
That said, I agree that managing custom properties from the contacts page itself requires too many clicks currently — having to go into an individual contact, edit, then manage custom properties just to add a new field is not great. Good feedback, we'll look into making this more accessible directly from the contacts page.

Contact Record Based Custom Fields for Campaign Questions

We have several “custom questions” that we ask donors that repeat on multiple campaigns. I’m ok if the information overwrites everyone, but it would be great if they could be toggled on and off AND the information stored IN the contact record.
Some examples:
SMS/Cell number
Question on Volunteering
Grade Level (for your school groups)
AND because they are contact record based, I’d like to be able to filter based off those fields. (Show me everyone in this grade)

Could you extend the simple spreadsheet to be a data base which would expand the ability of managing contacts? If we had the option to created multiple additional fields that can be sorted for our own use, we would be spending more time on Zeffy helping run our organization.

Zeffy wants to serve nonprofits well. The contact system is VERY bare-bones now. We maintain dozens of fields on our donors/contacts! Please consider a radical enhandcement.
