When a user accesses a membership form, I would like there to be a feature where Zeffy identifies if that user already has an active membership running and where the user is notified of this on the form (i.e. Zeffy notifies them that they already have a membership expiring on X date).

Currently, a user can purchase a second membership while an existing membership is still active. Not only that, but they will also receive renewal reminders for each membership just before the purchase anniversary of each one.
Ideally, I'd like to see the following behaviour when an active member attempts to manually renew a membership:
If the user's membership is set for auto-renewal or it is more than three months before their expiration date, an
ERROR
message appears, blocking them from continuing. The message provides the details of when their membership expires, whether they are set up for annual renewal, and a link to download their membership card. If their membership is not set to auto-renew and the expiry date is less than three months away, a
WARNING
message appears. It includes the same information as the above ERROR, but also allows them to choose whether to continue. If they do continue, once the renewal is complete, the expiry date of their membership is increased by one year from its current value (rather than set to one year from the payment date).A

We have noticed this as an issue too after passing our second year of using this platform for memberships. Several of our members contacted us about getting an email saying their membership is expiring in one month when that already renewed. Those people somehow created an additional membership when they renewed with a one time payment, or if they switched from one time payment to Auto-renewal.

Our bylaws require that memberships collect each member's name, email, and address. Currently, the system allows one person to purchase numerous memberships under their account, but all of the memberships are linked to that account. It would be great if the system could prompt them that they already have a membership and not allow multiple of the same types of memberships on the one account

Feature improvement to add an option to prevent duplicate memberships by email used at signup. I have cases where people signup twice for a nonprofit membership while they are unexpired. It's burdensome to review the membership orders every month to make sure no-one paid twice for our annual nonprofit membership.

I want to make sure the system doesn't let a current member buy a new membership if it's already being automatically renewed.
(For example, a member forgets the auto-renewal and buy another the year after).
