Major donors often use DAFs. This is a simple feature to add (show an option, generate a letter when received...) that would remove a lot of friction for large donors.

Please please please add DAFpay. Our organization recently started using Zeffy, and we didn't realize that DAFpay is not offered as a payment option. We should have checked first, because it has become a permanent fixture in the fundraising universe. At this point many donors are now more evolved in how they manage their donations than how we manage our fundraising.

For organizations like ours, the Zeffy donate page is embedded directly into our website via an iframe. That page is the front door for donors. When someone arrives there ready to give and there is no DAF option, the process immediately becomes less streamlined, not more. You are forcing a motivated donor to stop, leave our site, log into a separate platform, search for the organization, and initiate the gift elsewhere. In practice, that friction costs donations.

Yes, donors technically can go directly to their DAF provider. But that ignores how donors actually behave. Many donors come to the nonprofit’s website first, especially during campaigns, appeals, or events. Other nonprofit platforms have already recognized this reality and have integrated DAF options directly into their donation flows for exactly this reason.

On the tax receipt point: no one is suggesting that nonprofits issue DAF tax receipts. Platforms that integrate DAFPay handle this correctly, with clear labeling and appropriate documentation so there is no double receipting or IRS issue. This is already solved in the market.

For us, DAF integration is not a “nice to have.” It is a dealbreaker. DAF gifts are often substantially larger, and the inability to capture them at the moment of donor intent on our site is a real limitation. As much as we value Zeffy’s no credit card fee model, if DAF support is not added, we would unfortunately need to migrate to a platform that does support it.
