Guest Self Check-In via QR Code Display

At a recent event, our QR scanner check-in process created a bottleneck—guests were waiting 30+ minutes to check in. We’re envisioning a solution where ticket holders could scan a prominently displayed QR code at the event and complete self check-in from their phones. Once checked in, they could simply show the confirmation screen to our event entry team to receive their entry wristband or materials.

I was thinking of the possibility for a self check-in feature, e.g. a QR code which may be printed and posted at the door so that people can self check-in by scanning the QR code and checking themselves in.
Another way would be to send an email with a question, "DId you attend the event?" and a Yes No button that will mark that person as attended.
Of course this is good for only free events where a volunteer cannot be found for checking in.
A printed sign in sheet would also work. A last name, first name sorted list with a space to mark Yes or a checkmark for each ticket would be helpful.
