Yes, it should be more clear that you can change the amount.

I'm surprised this post has not been merged with the older one here:

I think there is a better way to ask for support. Many donors think that platform donation can't be changed, hence leave. So please make, it default to 0 and if donors want they donate!

100% agree!! We have had several complaints about this and donors end up cancelling the transaction altogether or asking for a refund of the additional (unintentional) cost they incurred. It's becoming a big hassle. We are trying to move away from Venmo and other apps, but the simplicity of those is hard for our customers to walk away from. Would love to see the default to 0% and allow the donor to choose for themselves. We advertise that we use a company that doesn't charge fees for them or us and we look like liars. Granted, people should read more closely and figure it out, but the simpler we can make it, the better for everyone. We will be making quarterly donations to Zeffy to help keep you running and allowing for a free platform to help offset the choices of donors.

It's not entirely clear that you can change it. Many people don't complete the transaction. This defeats the whole purpose of us using Zeffy.

I would appreciate a change here as well, even if it's just an increase in the clarity of the form. A number of our donors have expressed surprise at the additional amount after completing the transaction. The most recent occurrence was a $5000 donation, with an automatically suggested 10% donation. The extra $500 would give pause to any donor, even one with a longstanding relationship to our organization.

Is it possible to have an ETA on this item? If added to another item which speaks to changing the default elsewhere in the listing of changes requested, it seems like this is a big issue for non-profits. We really appreciate having Zeffy at no cost and appreciate the need for voluntary contibutions; however, making some modifications would be so helpful to us.

COMPLETELY AGREE. We had complaints our first year using Zeffy. We nearly did away with the platform for that reason. We had a patron ask us to refund the Zeffy amount… which came from our pocket at that point, and was an overly complicated procedure as Zeffy doesn’t allow for a % refund.

We have had donors that opted out of donating to our non profit through Zeffy due to the fact that it automatically adds a percentage to donate directly to the platform.
To donors who haven't ever used this platform, it's not clear on how they can choose to donate $0 to Zeffy. They option to donate $0 is hidden in a way or hard to navigate to if you're unfamiliar with it.
We understand that to keep the platform free, people do need to donate to Zeffy, but with a default of $0 gives them the option to CHOOSE to donate instead of trying to figure out why they are donating more than they had planned to.
Because of this, we have thought about switching to a different platform.

Absolutely. This design makes it feel like a bait and switch and is causing us to rethink using Zeffy. It's almost better for us to just pay Square/someone else the 3% because it comes off unethical -- especially since it just adds a large amount. We're using the platform to help our non-profit charge $300 for a summer camp, and it's tacking on a 17% "donation". It looks like we're going to have to refund and then ask them to pay via Venmo.
